18. Deprecated aliases

Contents of DISL 0.1

DISL 0.1 continues the combined format it came from: DEDL became DISL and DID, and the constructs did not change. What that format called a definition is a DISL specification, and what it called a document is a DID definition (DID, section 11). Runtimes of DISL 0.x MUST accept the following identifiers as deprecated aliases (those of the earlier format, version 0.1, and the extension .disl that DISL 0.1 specification files had before they took .dis), read them as their DISL form, and never write them:

Deprecated alias DISL 0.1
file extension .dedl .dis
file extension .disl (DISL 0.1 before 2026-09-30) .dis
$schema https://etalii.net/adp/dedl/schema/0.1/dedl.schema.json#/$defs/Definition https://etalii.net/adp/disl/schema/0.1/disl.schema.json#/$defs/Specification
media type application/vnd.dedl.definition+json application/vnd.disl.specification+json
version key "dedl": "0.1" "disl": "0.1"

A specification carries exactly one of the two version keys; the schema accepts either and marks the old one deprecated. The old schema address stays published unchanged, so files that name it keep validating. The legacy fixtures in specifications/disl/legacy/, one in the earlier form and one with the old .disl extension, are validated through these aliases on every change to this repository. The aliases are removed no earlier than DISL 1.0.
