DISL 0.5 (draft, 2026-10-19) adds the construct listed below, ruled by the product owner on 2026-10-19 (the decision cards "Add to DISL", for the shape, and "Approve, open 0.5", for the version; spec 031-disl-person-shape); it is optional, and its absence is the 0.4 behaviour. Every valid 0.4 specification is a valid 0.5 specification with the same meaning, apart from the clarification in the second table.
| Construct | Section | Schema |
|---|---|---|
person, a built-in shape with the parameter radius |
6.7, B.2 | – ($defs/ShapeRef accepts any shape name) |
| # | Change | 0.4 said | 0.5 says | Reason | Section |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | A shape reference "person" with no custom shape of that name |
An unknown shape. | The built-in person. A custom shape named person still shadows it (6.8). |
The C4 person needed a shape every host draws alike. | 6.7 |
DISL 0.5 needs no change to DID or FBL: a definition stores no shapes, and a binding binds no notation. The worked example c4-container.dis draws its people with person.
